K-Beauty Files I - Nana of Ddalgi Nana Beauty

Thursday, 11 August 2016

Hey everyone! Today I am sharing with you guys the first in this exciting new series on the blog! K-Beauty Files is an interview series in which I ask beauty bloggers with a focus of Korean beauty on their blog about their favourite brands and products. Since a lot of my readers are starting to gain an interest in Korean brands through seeing the products I share, I thought it would be a great idea to support and share other bloggers in the same beauty niche as myself. Not only does it let my readers discover more products but also lets them find more bloggers that might share completely different Korean products than I do that may suit my readers more.

First of all we have Nana from Ddalgi Nana Beauty (Ddalgi/딸기 is Korean for Strawberry!), a blog I only discovered very recently but I loved her style of photos and her shared love of Etude House! So I thought she would be perfect for this series. So do check her out and read her answers to my questions! There are a few links in this post to products she has written about so be sure to read those posts too!

First off, tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog!
Hello, I am a girl with nickname Nana. I am 23 years old university student and I study art & education. I started blogging after I couldn’t find a review on a product which I wanted to buy. I usually read a review before purchasing something and I kind of felt greedy as I was always reading a review and never giving anything back to the community so I started making reviews myself to help other people.

When did you gain an interest in K-beauty and how did this interest come about?
I knew about K-beauty before, but I didn’t really care. Real interest started after I didn’t get into university on first try and I had to work. I’ve got a job in the Korean company. My boss was around 30 years old Korean who had a company with his wife in my town. My real interest started when my boss told me, that he is already over 50 years old. Yes, it was very shocking for me and then I realized that I should take care of my skin as much as they do to look young and healthy.

Which brands would you say are your favourites?
I love Etude House and Innisfree, I love Etude House for their design, events and cheap price. Innisfree is for me something extra, which I buy for myself as a reward. My favs are also other brands for their service like The Saem, Holika Holika, Missha, Nature Republic, The Face Shop, Tony Moly, It's Skin… Service is very important for me as they see customer as a friend.

Are there any products from these brands you absolutely couldn't live without?
Canola Honey Cream and Serum from Innisfree are my must have. I have extreme dryness on my face and sensitivity as well. Most of the creams are useless for me as my face is “thirsty” after 2 hours, Canola Honey line can lasts for a whole day.

How have you gone about discovering the brands you currently use?
I didn’t know Innisfree until I’ve received masks from my boyfriend. But the other 99% of the products I know from the internet, like from the reviews.

Do you feel like your make up style is influenced at all by the styles popular in Korea? or do you mix and match Western and Eastern trends to create your own look?
I think I mix both of them.

What is your skin type and skin troubles? What products are you currently using regularly?
I’ve been diagnosed with Rosacea, so I have extreme sensitivity and dryness on my face plus pores and pore scars over all my face. I have been using Perfect Whip for 3 years as my face cleanser; as I mentioned above I am using Innisfree Canola Honey line for a hydration. When it’s needed I use Missha Jojoba oil for extra hydration. For my pores I use Innisfree Anti Trouble Skin and Lotion.

From my make up, I use Etude House Blur My Face as a base and Precious Mineral Any Cushion Pear Aura as my cushion foundation. Pearl aura gives my reddish face extra natural shine. My go-to lipstick is BBIA – Last lipstick 04, I am obsessed with that shade.

Would you say your make up collection primarily contains Korean products? Or do the Korean products stand in your collection as a smaller addition?
All my make up is from Korea. Maybe I can find an item or three which is not from Korea. Before starting university, I didn’t use make up at all. I’ve got most of my products during working in the Korean company when I had money to spend and another half of products when I visited Korea.

Do you have any favourite Kbeauty focused bloggers or YouTubers?
I adore the work of Beautifymeeh, who has enjoyable videos about her life and beauty products! And Daddoa – who shares a passion for Etude House~

Are there any products or brands you have been keen to try but haven't gotten round to?
There are many brands and products which I want to try. But I have a budget and I am not buying anything what is out of my budget. If you want an example, I hope I could get MISSHA Cell Renew Snail Cream one day or IOPE cushion foundation.

Any final words?
I would like to thank everyone who ever visited my blog, for giving me power to continue. And special thanks goes to my boyfriend who is supporting me in everything crazy what I do.

And I would like to apologize for my English, reading this has to burn eyes of every native English speaker. I will try to improve it as much as possible! I hope Mrs. kkochsongi could fix a mistake or two for sake of native English speakers.*

*I fixed one or two little grammar errors but everything was fine!

I hope you guys liked this post and are looking forward to the upcoming posts in this series, I have a few people lined up to take part! I loved reading Nana's answers as for myself, it's always interesting to read other people's views on K-beauty and how they got into it!
