Can Urang Help You Lighten Acne Scars?

Thursday, 30 August 2018

I'm sadly very far from blessed with perfect skin. While my skin condition has changed over the years, the one thing that has remained a consistency with it, is the fact I suffer from hormonal acne and scar quite easily from said acne breakouts. I have a mixture of deep set "pick axe" type scars and I also have some darkened skin level scars as well, these are more noticable on my chin area, where I'm most likely to get a breakout. Because of this, I'm always on the lookout for products that can help reduce these markings.

This product was sent to me by Skinsider for purposes of trial and review.

Introducing Urang, formerly Holi Aroma, a Korean beauty brand focusing on giving you natural skincare combining natural ingredients with the founding owner, Jina Lee's knowledge of aromatherapy. Aiming to bring you skincare that is safe for all skin types and for any age that is both effective and good for your skin.

Today, I am going to be talking about one of their serums, namely the Whitening Blue Oil Serum

P A C K A G I N G

The packaging of both sizes of the product are both so minimal and gorgeous. The 15ml version that I have here simply combines a glass container with a silver dropper. Letting the natural blue colour of the serum play the starring role in the aesthetic of the product. The 30ml version however comes in a rounded frosted glass bottle which is just as beautiful.

After cleansing and toning the skin, apply 1-2 drops of the serum to your skin by gently massaging it in. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops into your moisturiser as you are applying it for a slightly less oily finish. Along with being used as a skincare product, you can also mix a drop or two in with your BB Cream or foundation to give you a radiant glow.

Urang is shipped out to a selection of different stores all over the world, however, if you are UK based like myself, Skinsider is currently the only retailer here authorised to stock the Urang brand.

Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Tocopherol, (-)-alpha-bisabolol, **Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil.

Yep, that's it. Four Ingredients. The ingredients are kept to a minimum and due to the ingredients and the lack of animal testing, this product is also Vegan. The chamomilla flower oil in the serum is what gives it that gorgeous natural blue shade.

The serum itself is very lightweight and doesn't feel overly heavy on the skin when it is applied. Due to it being oil based though, it won't immediately absorb into the skin so you may want to wait  a little after initial application before continuing on with any extra steps.

I find, personally, that I don't really need to use a moisturiser after applying as the oils do the job for me. Meaning my skincare routine can be narrowed down some nights to just cleanse, tone and serum. Which is perfect for me working late nights and needing to sleep early in order to wake up with my daughter. This is particularly the case in the summertime when I don't want to be putting a lot of different products on my skin

T H E  R E S U L T S

Due to this being a smaller size, I felt like giving the product a two week trial would be enough to give myself a good first impression of how my skin reacts and changes with use of this product.

For the first week, my skin was looking fantastic for the first few days and the acne scars I had were looking a lot lighter. However, my skin decided it was time for a hormonal breakout which brought even more acne to potentially scar my skin. I did initially worry that it was the product itself that was causing it but due to it being in the place I always get my hormonal acne, I ruled that out. Despite the breakout though, it's clear to see that a few of the acne scars that were previously there have diminished in colour and weren't as visible.

My skin broke out AGAIN this week, most likely due to stress and a lack of sleep. It could also be contributed to the amount of alcohol I had at the weekend as well, as that's usually another trigger for my skin breaking out. So it wasn't easy to see a full difference in my skin. There are a few of the smaller scars that aren't as visible in comparison to the previous week which shows me the product is still working its magic.

+ Visibly Lightened Acne Scars // Despite the acne breakouts, I could still tell that there was a visible change to my skin.
+ Smells absolutely gorgeous // The serum has such a delicate floral scent to it.
+ Multi-Use // Can be used in a small variety of ways depending on your skin needs.
+ Moisturised My Skin // While intending on just whitening the skin, the serum also helped keep my skin moisturised without the need for an extra moisturiser on top of it.
+ Little Bottle Goes A Long Way // Over these two weeks I used the serum once a day in the evening with the occasional day using it in the morning. I still have 2//3-3/4 left of the bottle. Given this, the 15ml would manage to last you about 4-8 weeks if not more depending on how often you actually feel like you need to use it.
- A Little Pricey // This is just a personal view. I can see why it is the price given due to how effective and and highly quality the ingredients contained are, however, for me it's a little out of my normal price range for skincare. However, this wouldn't stop me from purchasing it as a treat every so often and I think next time I would go for the larger bottle of it for longevity purposes.

This little bottle packs a lot in it and if you're like me and suffer from acne breakouts whether they are hormonal or otherwise, I recommend adding this into your skincare routine to try and help you lighten the appearance of them and improve your skins overall texture. This won't work for the likes of ice pick scars (which I also suffer from) but scarring that has discoloured the skin. I'm also now very intrigued and hopeful to eventually get round to trying a few more products from Urang again in the future.

Have you tried Urang's natural skincare before?

MASK MONDAY // eyenlip Calamansi Vitamin Solution Mask

Monday, 27 August 2018

I can't believe I've actually managed to stick to my mask Monday two weeks in a row! Hurray!
Today's Mask Monday features K-beauty newcomer, eyenlip's Calamansi Vitamin Solution Mask. A mask absolutely packed with a variety of vitamins derived from the Calamansi fruit (I think it's more popularly known as the Philippine Lime(?)), one that boasts that it's vitamin content is higher than our very vitamin-y friend, the lemon. With the primary aim of the mask to help brighten and whiten the skin and prevent wrinkles while not causing any irritation to the skin.
This post is in part of a series of posts about eyenlip where I have received I variety of products to try out and in return, review here on my blog for my readers to discover. All opinions are my own however.

A B O U T  E Y E N L I P

Eyenlip was launched in 2017 by the founders of beautynetkorea, a stockist and seller of a large variety of Korean beauty brands. They also have their own eBay page where they sell the same items under the username f2plus1 (which is one of my most used and trusted stores on the site). Over the past year or so the brand coming to be, they have been gradually building their repertoire of skincare and makeup products. With the aim of making their products affordable and easily accessible, targeting a number of different concerns.

After cleansing the skin, apply toner to ready the skin for application. Remove the mask from the pouch and apply to the skin evenly and wait 15-20 minutes before removing and tapping in the remaining essence into the skin.

S C E N T  &  E S S E N C E

Being a citrus fruit based masked, you can guarantee that when you take the mask out of the pouch you are going to be greeted with a lovely little scent of fruits. However, when it comes to this mask, while the scent is there, it's not overbearing and is quite a soft scent. The essence itself is quite similar to your standard relatively thin essence but does not drip. It adheres to the sheet mask well to allow for your skin to get all of the essence available in the packet.

F I T  &  M A T E R I A L

One of the more shocking factors of this mask is the fact that the sheet itself is actually a very bright yellow in appearance. However, this isn't due to the sheet being dyed, but the fibers being used for the mask being a naturally derived cellulose fiber. So if you thought you looked silly with a typical white coloured sheet mask you'll be in for a surprise. However, I think that just adds a unique charm to the mask.
The mask adheres to the skin well without any slippage. However, my only complaint is that the eye holes are a little on the small side. There was a lot of the mask not touching my skin around my eyes, however, this could be due to my nose bridge being high that's preventing it from doing so. The mask fits well on others parts of my face though which is a plus.

Following removal of the mask, my skin looked a lot brighter and far less dull than it did before using. The essence didn't take all too long to absorb into the skin as well, meaning that I wasn't left with that sticky feeling on my face for ages after and I could carry on onto the final stages of my skincare routine. I feel like the reduction in the redness of my face overall was quite dramatic for an initial use which is a great thing. My skin felt soft and hydrated too.

You can purchase the masks from either beautynetkorea or eBay.

I would definitely buy this mask again in a batch. Due to the sheer difference in my skin with one use, I feel like these would be handy to have on hand for anytime I have an event that I want my skin to look especially bright or if I'm having a period of very dull skin and it needs a boost. An affordable little mask with a unique colour to it. A highly recommended little sheet mask!
As always, hope you are all having a fantastic week and let me know what masks you've been using up lately!

Let's Go #GlowSetter! With Mask Time

Thursday, 23 August 2018

During the summer time, you'll want to free your skin a lot more and let it breathe in some of the warm summer air. Sometimes giving your skin a little break from the likes of make up from time to time can help keep it looking clear and fresh and Mask Time is back again with their July Glow Setter box this summer. The masks in this box aim to deeply cleanse, firm and help you get your summer glow on. I was generously gifted this box by Mask Time to let you guys know what comes in this mask packed box. So let's get on with it!

One thing I have to say about Mask Time is that their boxes are always so neatly and gorgeously packaged. A lot of care is definitely shown in how everything is presented! Their signature box is opened and you're shown their own personalised tissue paper gently hugging the masks and sealed.

As always with Mask Time's boxes, you are given a little information booklet. Inside this, you're given all the information you need about every single mask. Whether it's the benefits of some of the key ingredients, if there are also any alternative methods of application compared to the usual 15-20 minutes that most masks require. This is especially handy for those unable to read Korean, or like myself, can read Korean but aren't fluent enough to fully grasp all of the instructions without some help.

This makes deciding which mask to use each day to get the most benefits out of them a whole lot easier rather than grabbing one randomly.

What's even more impressive is the fact that there are 10 masks in total in the box! Which is one of the largest amounts I've seen in a subscription type box, at least within the UK. One of the masks that comes in the

1. FG BEAUTY - Stewardess Mask Pack Business Class
2. NO:HJ - 24K Gold Mask Pack Super Collagen
3. DOUBLE & ZERO - Double Effect Foot Peeling Mask
4. FRIENVITA - Aqua Sponge Ampoule Pack / Sensitive

It may be surprising if you don't know me well, but out of this four I'm most excited to try out the foot peeling mask! I'm someone who gets a lot of enjoyment out of peeling things. I was that kid in art class that used to cover their hands in PVA glue just to peel it off. So I'm most anticipating using said mask to see how much of it peels off my feet and how they look and feel afterwards. I've always wanted to try this type of mask but just never found myself getting round to getting one.

1. NO:HJ - Deep Cleansing Bubble Mask
2. 77 Days - Intensive Moisture Gloss Mask
3. SEINE K-II - Moisturise to Shine Mask

There are two multi-step masks here. I've only seen a few of them but they seem to be ideal for taking away with you while travelling as you don't need to take a whole heap of products with you. I've also not yet used a bubbling sheet mask, so I'm quite interested in all three of these masks in all honesty.

Now onto our slightly larger masks given in the box!

1. LINDSAY - Seok Go Contouring Mask Gold
2. ENTIA - Essence Gel Modelling Pack - Lifting/Hydrating
3. URBAN DOLLKISS - Urban City Carbonated Bubble Gold Clay Mask

So the first two are masks that you mix different components together to make the mask before applying. I've had one or two with a similar concept but I'm still very intrigued in using them. And we have the viral bubble mask type here too. I've actually tried this out after I took the photos for this post and loved it!

I think one of the best things about this box is that all the brands featured are lesser known and ones that I have yet to actually use before. So this is giving me new experiences of new brands that lets me discover more to go and purchase masks from.

You can buy the July Glow Setter box from Mask Time for £29.95. If you're new to sheet masks and just want a little taste for some masks to try out, you can also buy the Glow Starter set for £12.95 which contains 5 masks instead. These both include free shipping if you are based in Mainland UK. Considering the overall RRP for this box is £64.97, I think £29.95 for this box is a fantastic deal.

Having received a number of boxes from Mask Time myself (though admittedly they were gifted), I guarantee they are worth trying out even once to add a selection of sheet masks to your selection or you're intimated and not sure exactly where to start when looking through the massive amount that are on the market.

Now, my sheet mask drawer is getting a bit full, time to get some masking done!

Let me know which mask you're most interested in finding out about!

MASK "MONDAY" // Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask

Tuesday, 21 August 2018

Dear Klairs is continually growing as a brand that I'm loving and enjoying. One product I've been eyeing up for the longest time is the Midnight Blue Calming Cream, but it's just something I've not gotten around to picking up yet. Luckily for me, Dear Klairs released a sheet mask version of the product, which lets me have a little try out to see if it's going to be worth spending the cost on the cream. I was sent these by Wishtrend after taking part in their Cruelty Free Week, however, wasn't obliged to review them. This post however does contain an affiliate link. It's also not a Monday as you can see (I missed a day...oops) so we have a Mask Monday/Tuesday here for you guys.

This mask aims to purify and unclog pores with the use of white willow bark extract, which very gently exfoliates the skin to remove excess sebum. Erythritol (an alcohol sugar) which targets the temperature of the skin to cool it down.

I recently suffered quite a bad hormonal breakout along my chin that was painful as a constant. So this seemed like the perfect time to give the sheet mask a try to see if it could help combat this issue.

After cleansing, pull out the mask from the pouch and unfold carefully. Evenly place the mask over the entire face, adjust the upper part to the eyes and the lower part to the mouth. After 15-20 minutes, remove the mask and gently pay the remaining essence into the skin.

Optional: After removing the mask, place the mask onto the neck for a few minutes.

Water, Butylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Glycereth-26, 1,2 Hexanediol, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Glycerin, Erythritol, Arginine, Carbomer, Carrageenan, Betaine, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Propanediol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, PVM/MA Copolymer, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract

S C E N T  &  E S S E N C E

There was a definite scent from the tea tree oil in the mask which is reassuring as it's one of the ingredients I would use if I had a breakout. There was minimal essence remaining in the pouch, which is great as I knew the majority of it was going to remain on the mask itself. It was a relatively thin essence in the mask too, thick enough to cling to cling to the mask and not thin enough so that it just drips everywhere. The cooling effect was nearly immediate and the skin on my face felt cool for a good while after use as well. ideal for when your skin just feels hot and painful when you have a breakout.

F I T  &  M A T E R I A L

As suggested in the instructions, this sheet mask actually comes in two halves, one upper half and one lower. To me, this makes it a lot easier to make sure the mask actually fits to your face better since not all faces are same length and have features in the same positions. I found the mask fit to my face perfectly with very little adjusting necessary. The mask itself also has bamboo charcoal in the actual material itself, making it soft and comfortable to wear.

R E S U L T

After using this mask, my skin felt incredibly smooth to touch and nice and plump. The tightness seemed to have been taken away from the spots that I had on my face too. With the redness being greatly reduced. So the mask has done exactly what it claimed to want to do. I think after using this mask, I would definitely go out and try the actual cream form for any future breakouts but also keep a few of these on hand when I just want my whole face to feel a little bit less hot and sore.

Where to buy // This can be purchased in a set of 10 or 20 from Wishtrend here.
Have you tried any Dear Klairs products? Which would you say are your favourites? Also, let me know which sheet masks you have been using and loving lately
